Is it possible to use connectors to connect 1D to 1D elements?

I've got multiple 1D only components meshed with CBEAM Elems. Now I'm trying to connect them together at points where bolts would be using point connectors but the link detection isnt working resulting in the connector failing to realize.
The only way I've found so far to make it work is by selecting Link 2 manually.
In all the reccources I've found online (learning plattform, this forum, etc) I haven't seen anyone connecting 1D to 1D with connectors. As I understand it from the courses I did on the learning platform the link detection works by projecting into the normal direction of link 1 and looking for a component to link to, but of course a line doesn't have a normal direction.
Does it evene make sense to use connectors for 1D to 1D? Placing RBE2s manually works, but my thougth behind using connectors was that they could adjust the RBE2s automatically when I refine the mesh.
Sorry if its a stupid question, I'm pretty new to HyperMesh and inexperienced in FE in general.

Hello Michael,
big thanks for the quick answer and dedicated video, really helped me!
So I do have to add link 2 manually. Automatic link detection for 1D to 1D element connectors would be a good feature to implement in a future update I think.

Sebastian

Hello @Sebastian_981 ,
can you please create a support request for the improvement of connectors? This way I can record your company information to a ticket for our development team to improve connectors for 1D parts
Regards,
Michael
