Particle Explosions

I am running two simulations
The first simulation has a static friction of 0.8, surface energy of 0.35 mJ and a particle modulus of 2.1GPa. The image below is how it looks like when spread.
The Second simulation has a static friction of 0.8, surface energy of 5.6mJ and a particle modulus of 2.1 GPa. The image below is how it looks when spread.
Why does the bottom image have these particle explosions?

Hi Jake,
This is likely related to the EDEM Simulation time-step used. I notice the time-step is relatively low but you have significantly increased the cohesive force included in the simulation, and higher forces typically require lower time-steps to be stable.

By the cohesive forces you mean the surface energy correct?

Hi Jake, that's correct.
