Can't get MF-Tire to run on 2D polyline road
Hi all, curious if I'm running into a common modeling mistake. I have a 2D polyline road profile of a set of bumps that I need to run on with my 2 wheeler model with MF6.2 tires in MotionView 2024.1. The model runs fine on a flat road with tire USE_MODE set to 1XX or with a FIALA tire with 3D_Enveloping enabled.
Referencing the below USE_MODE information within the tire model I attempted running with USE_MODE 414 for 2D road contact and 514 for 3D road contact, but both crash the MotionView session.
USE_MODE 414 produces an error stating "The Contact Method in ISWITCH (XXBXX) does not support a value of 4" which doesn't make sense from the MF documentation
USE_MODE 514 produces an error stating "SALT cannot connect to server (-10078) which appears to be a licensing issue, but I am not trying to run SWIFT rigid ring dynamics, so I'm confused about the license error.

Hi @c_sells,
It is true that not all road types work with all tire models.
In most cases, if the 2D Polyline format is not compatible you can use the 3D Spline format instead.
Also, the higher USE_MODES sometimes require additional licensing. In most cases, the 1XX USE_MODE should be very suitable for your simulation needs.
Hope this helps!

Hi Adam, I thought I had already tried the 3D spline, but I must have gotten mixed up. I tried the 3D spline version of my road profile with the MF tire and that works. Thanks!
