How to Convert 2D faces into solid

Hello,

I have a question about converting 2D faces that I've extracted from 3D elements into a solid. I've tried using the FE Geometry option under Topology to convert the elements, but I'm facing an issue. When I convert each of the three phases (colors) into a solid one by one, parts of the same phase are getting assigned different colors. For example, while converting the green phase, some parts unexpectedly turn red.

Could you please help me with a way to convert each of these phases into solids one by one without this problem?

Thank you!

Yes you should start with Creating the faces for the 3D elements ,

Go to : Validate> Faces> Select the elements and create Faces.

Later you can create surfaces from the "from FE" tool, as I mentioned in the earlier chat.

The easiest way to check the weather the surfaces are closed volume is through

3D> Bounding tool > Find. If you just click "Find" Radio button on this tool, it will highlight the surfaces

if it makes a closed volume. This is one of the way to check and we have various ways too.

Hypermesh has various functions to deal with Geometry edges and create Volumes.

user can rely on 2d> Surface repair functonality or under Topology you can use > Split/Stitch or Quick edit function to close the edges .

To Create a solid use 3D> Solids> Bounding function.

    Hi,

Could you share the model with us to have a look and suggest the best possible approach?

Sure! here is a screenshot of the model.

To create solids from elements, you must first generate surfaces from the FE model

Go To : 2D> Surfaces> From FE ( select all the elements) > create.

This will create the surfaces. Now Make sure this surface created has the closed Volume in order to generate the Solids .

    To create Solids from Surfaces

    Go to : 3D > Solids> Bounding> Create.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Thank you for your help.

The model was extracted from AVIZO and only includes 3D elements without geometry. Should I start by creating 2D faces and then create 2D surfaces?

Furthermore, how could I make sure the surfaces are closed volume?

Thank you so much! I found that my model contains some open volumes. I created the material model using AVIZO software and reviewed all the modeling steps in AVIZO, which seemed fine. Do you know if there's a way to close these open volumes in HyperMesh to create a solid?

    Thank you!

I want to apply degrees of freedom to each surface of the model, but the constraints option is not active. Do you know why this might be?

    Thanks

It is the active feature and user can just click on the Constraints GUI, which pops a new Window to create the constraints.

I believe that in the previous version (HyperMesh 2019), there was an option to select the four nodes of a face, allowing the software to restrict the degrees of freedom for the specified surface. However, I couldn’t find an option to select faces in the current version. Could you please help me with how to achieve this? Additionally, the Constraints feature remains inactive when I attempt to use it as shown in the above image.

    Thank you!
