Hypermesh Composite Optimization - limit extreme jumps in laminate thickness

Hello!

how can I avoid big jumps in my laminate thickness of a optimized laminate (freesize, size)

For example in one region it is 2mm, and next to it there is 35mm laminate thickness.

Is defining the maximum laminate thickness the only way to avoid this?

I have the problem when defining the maximium thickness (next to my defined minimum thickness) that the result is just a homogen laminate without shaped plies..

Thank you!

You can prescribe a maximum drop-off angle in the free-size setup.

The drop-off can be the angle or the slope of the thickness change along your part. Please take a look at the OptiStruct documentation for free-size and take a look at drop-off.
