I have a free license key for RapidMiner Server 7.2+ but whenever I try to download RapidMiner Server it says that I need a license key, why is that? :smileyfrustrated:

    Hi @kyleoliva14,

Have you already downloaded RapidMiner Server? If so, you should take a look at this.

    All the best,

Yes, it asks you to login with your username and password on the RapidMiner site. The login button is on the top right navigation. You said you have a license and you are posting here, so you shouldn't have a problem downloading it. Here is the URL.

hi @kyleoliva14 @rfuentealba yes there appears to be a change in the availability of the free version of Server since the introduction of PAYG. Please be patient as I try to find out more details. Thanks.

hello @kyleoliva14 - sorry this took so long to get back to you. So the RapidMiner Server free licenses are now issued manually upon request. Go to https://rapidminer.com and chat with a support person. They can help you.

    Hi all,

I have a free license and I still can't download it. My company has a paid license, but it's not associated with my account (we have the license as text in our confluence).

Overall I am very dissapointed with this, if Server stops being free you will lose a big advantage in comparison with the main competitor. I think that the option of having a free productive use of RM for lightweight processes is very important for a company beginning to be data driven.

    Regards,

    Sebastian

Thank you for your feedback @SGolbert. We are always trying to find a balance between being "free and open" and "making money so we can continue to hire & innovate". There is no secret to this.

I am copying @jpuente in case he has further insight.

    Hi Sebastian,

Our reasoning regarding what is free and what is not is related to the value that the product gives. You can use Studio for free and that has all the functionality that we provide. Server is meant for a production environment where users or companies get a real benefit and, therefore, they should be able to afford to pay for it. For small companies, we also give now the option to use the Cloud images (https://aws.amazon.com/marketplace/pp/B07CMD3F33?qid=1534175896722&sr=0-1&ref_=srh_res_product_title and https://azuremarketplace.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/apps/rapidminer.rapidminer_server_81?tab=Overview). Prices start at $3.21 the hour, so that should be near free for tests and occasional usage. Is the cloud offering not covering your case?

    Hi Scott, Jesus,

I have always had a paid license, so I cannot say whether the cloud option is practical or not. I run my server all the time, so it can be expensive too. On a technical side, with which license do the cloud VMs come?

I would be happy if the row limit from Studio were to be cancelled as a trade-off, then most user-level necessities would be covered.

    Regards,

    Sebastian

    Hi Sebastian,

The VMs come with unlimited licenses, no row or memory limit. You can spin up a VM as big as you need with no limitation.

@jpuente and community, do you know if  the number of virtual instances that one license can spin up is limited?

    Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by virtual instances. Each Cloud VM comes with its license and, as long as the VM is big enough to support it, you can configure as many Job Agents/Job Containers as you need, all that is covered within the license. Does that answer your question?
