Convergence issue on Radioss Implicit solution

Hello,

I m starting using Radioss Implicit solution and I have convergence issue on simple problem. It is a plate in flexion (P14_SOLID) clamped at one extremity. An infinite rigid tool (P1_SHELL with RBODY) with imposed displacement at the other extremity bend the plate.

There is a counter form under the plate also infinitely rigid.

Contacts are surface to surface (TYPE19).

The plate is in aluminium (M2_PLAS_JOHNS) with failure model (JOHNSON).

The tools is in steel (M1_ELAST)

I took the example on RD-E: 4200 Rubber Ring: Crush and Slide for radioss engine parameters but i don't understrand why the time step decrease infinitely and simulation crash.

I think that i make a basic mistake but i don't knwo where, can you please help me to debug my model ?

Thank you very much,

Best regards,

Nicolas VIALETTES

    Hi Nicolas,

Usually for implicit simulation, OptiStruct is highly recommanded.

As far as your model is concerned, I think that /INTER/TYPE19 is not compatible with Radioss implicit. Please check out the Radioss documentation page "Implicit Features and Compatibility".

Anyway, I would myself strongly recommand to use OptiStruct for such implicit application.

    Regards,

    Mathis.

    I Mathis,

    Thanks for your response,

I already used Optistruct for this application but in a 2nd time i would like to impose large displacements and the effects of hight temperature with possibility to analyse  creep effect on the material. Optistruc shows limitation for large displacement (with too degenerative elements) that why i would like to use Radioss.

    Regards,

    Nicolas
