Hello everyone,

I'm a new user of MotionView and I'm having issues importing geometry from CATPart and CATProduct into MotionView 2023.1. As showed below, the imported parts/products have incorrect graphics.  This happen with CATPart and CATProduct. However, importing individual stp file of the CATPart gives me good results. Does anyone knows why I have this issue and how to resolve it?

Thanks a lot!

    Hi Loïc,

How exactly are you importing the graphics? If you are importing via File >> Import >> Geometry then there shouldn't be any issues with the CATPart or CATProduct file types as they fall under the Supported Graphics category. In addition, if you are importing via File >> Import >> Geometry or FEM using HyperMesh and change the Input File selection to Catia, you should also have the ability to import those file types without issue.

    Hope this helps!

Hi Adam, thanks for the quick anwser. Unfortunately, I'm indeed importing the Catia files via File >> Import >> Geometry. Plus, even with selecting the input file to Catia, it still gives me those weird graphics.

    Hi Loïc,

Are the areas that are coming in "weird" different element types than the rest of the part?

Can you export from Catia as a parasolid (x_b, x_t) instead?

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Loïc,

Are you able to share the graphic files so we can try on our end? If we receive the same behavior we will report to the dev team. In addition, are you able to export the file as a parasolid or step file? These two formats are preferred for importing graphics.

The weird graphics are incomplete geometry. Here is a zoom of the imported CATPart in MotionView and the same geometry but in Catia. It also does this for simple geometry. I will check for the parasolid.
