Startup delay

Sometimes RM starts quickly, but sometimes it stays on the splash screen (showing "Initializing plugin GUI") for perhaps 5 minutes. Is there a known issue related to this?

Is there any hint in the logs (if you start RapidMiner from the command line)? Which plugins have you installed? Have you tried to disable plugins successively until this does not happens anymore?

Is a plugin the same thing as an extension?

I have the following extensions installed:

Parallel Processing 5.3.0
Text Processing 5.3.0
PMML 5.2.0
Octave Extension 2.1.2
PaREn 5.2.2
R Extension 5.3.0
Series Processing 5.3.0
Reporting Extension 5.3.0

I will try to experiment a little.

Yes, these are the same things (I should called this extension though). Please tell us if you find anything.

The problem seems to arise when the host PC is not connected to the internet. I am not sure of this yet. With this hypothesis in mind I will be on the look out for any counterexamples.
