How to smooth a portion of a STL part?
Hello Experts,
I have the following geometry obtained after topology optimization, imported from an STL file:
I want to smooth only some faces, as the circular faces are part of my design. Therefore, I need to exclude the following faces from the smoothing process:
However, using PolyMesh --> Smooth, produces the following result, which also smooth my circular faces:
My question is, for the attached STL file, how to leave the circular faces flat and with the original dimensions?
Kinds regards,
Francisco

Hi Francisco
My suggestion would be to bring the original non-design parts into inspire as CAD (or re-create them in inspire which is what I have done).
Then you can wrap your STL and smooth it as you show. The next step is to do a PolyNURBS fit...
If you reduce the number of faces this also has a smoothing effect.
You can then boolean the parts together and add details like fillets.
File attached for reference.
Hope that helps. Tony
