pruning of decision trees

Hi to all!
I want to understand how pruning procedure of decision trees works.
As I already understood that parameters minimal size for split, minimal leaf size, minimal gain, maximal depth in the node "Decision tree" use for early break or prepruning.
But what means confidence and how it calculates?
