Applying Triangular Distributed Load to a CLT Panel Using S-Timber

Hello Everyone,

I am seeking assistance on how to apply a triangular distributed load to a specific area of a Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) panel using S-Timber software.

In my scenario, I aim to simulate soil pressure load on the panel. However, the panel is elevated 60 cm above the ground level, hence I do not wish to apply the load to that section. I want to apply this load only to the part of the panel that is situated below the ground level.

I have attached a photo to provide a better understanding of my situation.

Your guidance would be immensely helpful.

Best, Milan

Hello Milan, thank you for your comment.

What you are describing it's not currently possible using S-TIMBER, the workaround would be to define multiple Wall Panels, and manually step up/down the magnitude of each panel.

With that said, it is possible to do it with one panel on S-FRAME only applying the load pressure wherever you want on the panel (below the ground level in this case)

S-FRAME will deal with this in a more elegant and easy way, although it would be possible to represent the behavior in S-TIMBER.

If you have any additional questions or want us to take a closer look, feel free to share any additional information/models with us at sframe-support@altair.com we'd be happy to help.
