Hello! I have been using the EDEM Student Version since the last week and everything was fine, however, now I cannot run the simulator in my models. When I click the Simulator button (screenshot), the software just closes by itself. How can it be fixed? I hope you can help.

    Hi,

    1) Are there any error messages at all when it shuts down?

    2) Are you running any API models or running on GPU?

    3) Does this happen for all simulations?

    Hi,

    1) No error messages, it just shuts down.

    2) Before this issue, I have been simulating on CPU 8 cores, and everything was fine. I have 1650 GTX.

    3) I can open my previous files and see the parameters, but when I click in Simulator button the software closes by itself.

Without an error message there's not a lot I can advise.

Is the simulation small enough that you can upload it here?

Here the test model, the simulator still shuts the software down.

When I try start the simulation I get the error message saying that the material interactions are missing:

Those need to be set up for the simulation to start.

I don't know why you would see a crash instead of an error message though. Once I add the interactions the simulation runs for me. Can you add those interactions and see if the simulation runs?

I have the same issue. I am replicating the rotating drum tutorial from the knowledge base and when I click simulator it crushes. Did you manage to resolve the issue?

No, I didn't. I tried your simulation, it crushes as well.

Did someone manage to solve the problem? Same issue with multiple different problems. I am using the 2022 Student version. Whenever I press the simulation button, the program closes.

    Kind Regards, Marko

Out of interest, can you try the 2021.2 install and  then install the 2021.2.1 hotfix as well? There was a fix for the classroom version in this hotfix. It should have then made it into 2022 but perhaps it didn't.

I'm facing the same problem as well.

How do I go about installing 2021.2 version and the 2021.2.1hotfix?

If you log in to Altair One and select 2021.2, you can see the main download and hotfix

    Thanks Richard.

The same problem persists with the 2021.2 version with the hotfix. Would you know if there is another reason for the software to close as I try accessing the simulator?

    Thanks

Nothing leaps to mind I'm afraid.

If you're happy to upload your deck here I can try load it on my end and see if anything jumps out.
