Hi

is there an example for steady state heat transfer between 2 separate parts?

The 2 parts may have coincident nodes or maybe a small gap.

Can heat transfer be modelled between the 2 hot & cold parts for conduction & convection, maybe using gap elements or contacts?

A simple example would be very helpful.

thanks!

also would like to have strong or weak coupling between the 2 parts, so that i can effectively add insulation between the 2 parts & see how the heat transfers across the gap.

In OS you could add conduction with both connected mesh or using FREEZE contact to transfer the heat.

Concerning Convection, you can use natural convection, defining an ambient temperature and a surface for heat excahnge.

For forced convection you would need to perform TFSI in combination with AcuSolve.

I believe there is a tutorial for all of these in OptiStruct tutorials section.
