problem generating email

Hello.  I have a process in which I apply a trained model for an image recognition task.  When I get a positive result, I want to send an email.  I am attempting to use gmail as my mail server (smtp.gmail.com).  If I use port 465, the email is sent SSL, but, so far as I can tell, RapidMiner does not permit me to setup email to be sent via SSL in the Preferences>>Tools setup dialog.  Google also offers email on port 587 but it requires TLS (I am not sure what that is) but it does not appear that RM lets met set up TLS either.  In either case, neither setup works.  Failure of TLS is understandable - I get an error message effectively telling me that I did not set up TLS.  But, oddly, when I configure RM to use port 465 (SSL), I get NO ERROR AND NO RESULTS.  I hear a "beep" as if the process has completed, but I get no results.  Strange.

I don't really care if I use SSL or TLS.  I just want to send an email.  By the way, I am using a Mac OSX 10.7.2 (Lion) system.

    i am dealing with pretty much the same problem atm. and do not have a solution ether. Have you solved the Problem right now and can help me out?!
