Hi All,

I want to create spring element for my model. I have created using spring section in hypermesh and used CELAS1 element. I need to define Spring stiffness. For that I have used Property with Spring gap type and PELAS as a card image. Here comes my problem, I need to give 10N/mm stiffness to spring. In property card whatever values I give it to K column, the displacement is same. It is not taking as stiffness. I do not know how it is calculating or  any thing I have missed. Please help me on this?

    Hi Udhay,

I tried on a simple CLEAS1 element and as the stiffness changes I see change in displacement.

Can you share the model file with us?

    Hi,

Have you made a Local coordinate system for the spring and then make the dof update for spring in the same direction of its axis. This should work I think.

I think this may help. Maybe the orientation is an issue with the CELAS element in your element.

    Hi @Prakash Pagadala

I have created a spring model in Optistruct with CELAS and i have created it in Z DOF. But as the result the part is not compressed in Z direction and it flies in another direction.

    Hi @jsk459

    This is strange.

Can you check the stiffness on PELAS?

I have included a sample file. Can you check if the same happens, at your end?

    Hi ,

Now the problem is solved. It is due to the AUTOSPC Constraints

    Dear Gopal Rathore

I am trying to do what you mentioned here, but I could not understand how to make Local Coordinate System for the spring? I can make LCS but how to relate it for the spring is my question please!
