Statsub card problem

Hello

I gave a beam a certain compression load in the first case. In the second case i gave same value of tension and used statsub preload card by referencing previous case.

I excepted the displacement to be zero but it is not.

Can anyone tell me what went wrong?

I guess the cases are not nested.

Regards

Bharat

    Hi,

Please have a look at Opistruct user guide for Prestressed analysis Results section.

Attached screen shot for your reference.

    Hello Rahul,

    Thank you for the reply.

I have read the section you have shown. I am confused about the sentence which states that the results are to be superposed to get overall results. How can I do that? Do I have to use derived load steps in hyperview? I have done that and got the results as I expected. But then what is the use of giving statsub card?

I can always create two separate cases and create a derived load step between them to get the results without using statsub.

    Regards,

    Bharat

    Hi Bharat,

Please use Linear superposition loadstep and check the displacement values.

    Hello Prakash,

I have created linear superposition already and have obtained the required results. But my question is that I can do it without using STATSUB card. So what is the use of that card?

Also from the image Rahul shared above the sentence which sates that ' for preloaded analysis results are to be superposed to get overall results'

How can I do that? Do I have to always use linear superposition? What if my subcases are not linear ?

    Regards
