How to transfer the load applied on one component to another connected component?

I am going through an Inertia Relief Analysis of a spring, where spring being the main component and a plate lies on the top of the spring.
But when the load is applied on the plate, that load is not transferred to the spring and hence there is no displacement on the spring.
What steps should I follow to transfer the applied load on the plate to the spring?
