How can I apply an enforced displacement of 10mm/min on a node for a lapshear simulation?

Dear all,

I've created a lapshear model to analyse the adhesive, which connects the two sample sheets. Now, I want to apply an enforced displacement on one sample sheet by SPC. The enforced displacement should be 10mm/min.

As far as I know, the enforced displacement has the unit [mm] by default. How can I apply the 10mm/min loading on my model?

Thank you very much and regards,

Stephan

    Hi Stephan,

I guess here you are interested in Transient analysis as in a regular static analysis, the physical time is not considered.

In case you want to conduct a nonlinear transient analysis, you need you input your velocity under the TLOAD1 entry (Load type = VELO). Of course, you will need to convert the velocity in a consistent unit system (like mm/sec if your model is in mm, MPa, ton, sec).

There is a tutorial about nonlinear transient with velocity input in our documentation here.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,

    Omar.

    Hi Stephan,

You can use IMPDISP card to apply prescribed displacement varying with respect to time using a curve.

Below is the keyword manual help:

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Prasad

I forgot to mention that I use Optistruct for the simulation.
