Digging for old posts...
I signed up also two weeks ago, but I wonder what is the use of this community if you are not a) living in the usa or b) working with sas/spss/oracle or another kinds of (expensive and) fancy software systems c) willing to share. I would appreciate a more open minded Data Mining community, created by open minded people, who are more ... curious and not focused on "getting contacts to powerful people in the industry".

Hi Steffen,
You can see that I have spoken of Rapidminer on it...A few appreciated the info, others were shouting loud "Weka!" It seems that "elderly" data miners are more open minded than youngsters, hugh ?
Moreover, if you have a look at "clustermap" of the website, it is not only about USA...
Cheers,
Jean-Charles.
PS : Yes, I know, my personal page on AnalyticBridge is a bit "funky", LoL !0 -

I guess you refer to this discussion: http://www.analyticbridge.com/forum/topic/show?id=2004291%3ATopic%3A9252
I admit I was exaggerating a little bit, but...maybe the community and its behaviour are a little to ... mature and sophisticated for me ;D
Ok, serious:
I mean "open minded" in terms of sharing knowledge. I am still thinking, that the community was created mainly for business contacts (which is ok, but does not serve for me).
greetings
Steffen
