diff between contact elements and tie

Hi,

can anyone help me in telling the difference between contact elements and Tie. Does the computational time vary a lot when used?

    Hi Punith,

     

    Tie is similar to FREEZE contact in OptiStruct where the relative displacement is zero. Which means each slave node will have the same motion as the node of the master through out the simulation.

     

    This is not the case in Slide contact for instance, where the slave nodes slide over the master surface and this is non linear in nature.

    Hi Prakash,

    thank you for the reply. I have a problem in creating RB2 elements. Its showing that the maximum number of RB2 elements that I can use only is 10000. I have 11000 dependent nodes. How can I proceed further.

    Hi Punith,

     

    sorry for a delayed response. there is a limitation on number of RBEs in 13.0. This limitation will be relaxed in the coming version.
