Does Altair SLC have arrangement for Disaster Recovery?
Disaster Recovery can be organized and managed externally to the Altair software. An SLC server host can be mirrored by a similar-spec machine that is left unused except for occasional DR dry-run tests and for actual disaster recovery situations. Altair can provide a DR license for this server.
WPD data set files are modified using a transactional method that protects them from being left in an incomplete or inconsistent state. In a DR crisis, once hardware and systems are re-established in the DR environment, use of SLC can continue.
A DR license should be obtained from Altair and installed in the DR environment, and then left unused during normal operations, but ready to use in a DR situation.
SLC Hub is not designed for automatic failover but is designed be run conveniently on virtual/cloud servers where VM images are easily restarted. All persistent data for Hub is in external PostgreSQL databases and S3 storage buckets that may be put under the management of high availability systems themselves. If one Hub worker fails then jobs can be restarted on another node (and are not automatically restarted).
