Dear all, I am trying to use 2 methods create a Composite Model. One is created by Node to Node. The other one is created by ply by ply(laminate). The result of tensile test for these 2 Models are similar. Will you please tell me, what is difference between these 2 methods and which one is better to simulate composite structure. Thanks!

Ply/Shell method is much easier of creating and specially changing any number of plies/layers.

It is the most used method for thin structures. I believe it owuld be a better option in general.

Do you have any special requirement for working with this alternative method?

Ive never seen modelling layer by layer, except in case of solid layers.

First thanks to your reply! I have no spcial requirement for working with this alternative method. I just want to compare them.

    Hello

I am trying to create a very simple composite with 1 laminate including 2 ply.

    I use shell elements.

For each ply, I used each kind of material. But I have only one component.

My question is that for the component which material should I assign?

    Tks

you don't need any special material for the component.

For using laminates, you need to assign the materials to the plies, and create a PCOMPP property. PCOMPP will be assigned to the component.

    Thank you.

But my problem is that I have two materials but only one component. So I don't know which material should I assign to the component
