Mass of a failed / ruptured element

Hello everybody,

i was wondering what happens with the mass of an element if it the element is deleted?

For example: There is an impact process of a soft projectile impacting a rigid / hard target. The projectile shows severve deformations and some elements are deleted because they reach their failure strain. If the mass is deleted, we should see an influence on the energy equilibrium resp. momentum equilibrium, but no influence is visible.

So what does Radioss do internally? What happens with the mass if an element is deleted? Is there a source where i can read some literature about this?

thank you very much,

best regards,

Florian

    HI

When element is removed, its mass contribution to the node mass is remove.

you may use  /TH/PART to verify the mass and energies per part.

    I hope this is helpful
