Monarch & Monarch Server(Automator)
The Session began with a brief overview of Replacing Data Sources in DPS and Monarch Server{Automator} Connection Definitions.
The Session began with our Expert reviewing the following:
- The session began by Chris reviewing Replacing Data Sources in DPS.
-
Highlighted instances when data sources might be absent or relocated, and situations where sharing a workspace with a colleague could lead to the unavailability of the original file. Also discussed the process of applying updates in such cases as necessary.
- Described the functionality of the FIND MISSING FILES message, outlining its ability to generate a list of files that are currently unavailable or missing. Upon identifying these files, you can proceed to update or replace them.
-
Explained how to update or replace files with new data. In such cases, one can simply drag and drop the desired report onto the load plan or table. This action will add the new report while allowing you to remove the older report from the process.
-
Also, explained how to add files with the function Load Plan by the "Add a report" feature.
- Reviewed how to edit the file path and the EDIT ALL FILE PATHS function.
-
- Chris explored the process of modifying an Excel file by updating its File Path to direct it to a different folder location.
-
Explained how the Apply To function can change the Sheet Name.
-
If working with a Worksheet - you can edit the SHEET Name – and the only way to tell is if you have a metadata column that is listing the sheet name.
-
-
-
Chris reviewed how to create a new Database connection and how to view and select tables from this data source.
-
For looking at more tables, use the EDIT TABLE INFO and select/change the database and then select/change the table from the listing.
-
- Chris began by reviewing Monarch Server {Automator} Connections Definitions.
-
It is important to note that one must have right permissions to access Connection Definitions and Admin rights. This allows Admins to have a shortcut to connect to the sources in that you can enter in the credentials and that does not require end-users to use it.
- If you do not see connection definitions, please select "SHOW ADVANCED OPTIONS" and it will show up under the Automator tab section.
-
Showed how to create a new Connection
-
1.- Add name.
2.- Use the connection string.
3.- Enter user ID, password and test connection.
-
-
-
- Note: Failure to select the "include password" option could lead to process failures, as the password is not included in the process.
