Fixed Time Point in NLOUT using HyperMesh OptiStruct

1. NLOUT Card definition

  • Controls the incremental result output for Nonlinear Implicit Analysis
  • The NLOUT Bulk Data Entry defines incremental result output parameters for Nonlinear Implicit Analysis

2.Fixed Time Point in NLOUT

2.1 Create the time Points

    1. Click on Analysis on Menu panel > Entity set.
    2. Provide the name and set card image as SET_TIME
    3. Click on Create > card edit
    4. Set the Number of time points > Define the Time points > return.

2.3 Create NLOUT load Collector

  • Go to Model Browser
    • Right click > Create > Load Collector.
    • Provide the required name.
    • Select Card image as NLOUT.
    • Set Nonlinear incremental output as TIME.
    • Define the SET_TIME_ID as SET_TIME
    • Set SVNONCNV Yes.

image

Note:

  • NLOUT Controls the incremental results for Small displacement and Large displacement.
  • It defines the set of time points at which the incremental nonlinear output is requested.

3.Frequency in NLOUT

3.1 Create NLOUT load Collector

  • Go to Model Browser
    • Right click > Create > Load Collector.
    • Provide the required name.
    • Select Card image as NLOUT.
    • Set Nonlinear incremental output as FREQ.
    • Define “n”
    • Set SVNONCNV Yes.

image

Note:

  • If FREQ is set to “n”, then every n’th load level is saved for output.

3.2 Define Control Cards

  • Define the following cards
  •  PARAM, CHECKEL,NO

Solver will not check for the element Quality

  • PARAM, UNSYMSLV,YES

Use for Un-symmetric terms in tangential stiffness matrix due to friction or frictional contact problem.

4.Load step and results

4.1 OUTPUT Request

Define the Following Output Request in Subcase Options.

  • CONTF

Output for Contact force

  • DISPLACEMET

Output for Displacement.

  • SPCFORCE

Single-point force of constraint vector output

  • STRESS

Output for Stress.

5.Create Load step for NLSTAT

  • Go to Model Browser
    • Right click > Create > Load Step as Zero Clearance.
    • Define Analysis Type as Non-Linear static.
    • Define SPC.
    • Define NLPARM.
    • Define NLOUT.
    • Define CNTSTB load collector.
    • Run the model using OptiStruct.
