How to use the "Create Frequency Ranges" macro in Feko

Many a times, solving a model over a wide frequency range in a single simulation is an overkill of the computational resources as the mesh generated for the highest frequency is used at all the lower frequencies. One could also sometimes benefit by switching to a different solver (like MLFMM) for the higher frequencies, which is not possible when having only a single model for the entire frequency range. The "Create Frequency Ranges" macro is specifically developed to address these issues. The video in this article demonstrates how the macro can be used to:

  • Split the broad frequency range into multiple smaller bands
  • Assign the desired solver for each frequency band
  • Automatically generate separate model files for each frequency band
  • Run all the models in a batch mode without manual intervention
  • Once the simulations are finished, automatically combine the results from all frequency bands and plot the results in a single POSTFEKO session
