radioss to optistruct conversion
Hi,
I am having a radioss bus structure file with min. element size of 5 mm used for crash simulation and now I want to use the same file for static and non-linear quasistaic analysis in optistruct
If I go to optistruct will all contacts be detected as it is in radioss and is recommended this way or generate separate file for it. As the structure size is large, meshing will take more time and thus wanted to avoid making new file.
Thank you

Hi Gopal,
I doubt with the contacts. The conversion coverage for RADIOSS to OptiStruct is currently limited to the Elements, Properties and Materials and the same which are supported is attached along.
I'm also afraid about the convergence in OptiStruct for complex models but you can give a try.

Hi,
Also does the rbody orientation have any effect on result for eg. I have one rbody with master node exactly in centre of the rbody element and in other I have same rbody but with master node not in line of slave nodes i.e out of plane. Does that make any effect on results and do we have any comparative study for it

Hi,
You can set the ICoG for this case, where for ICoG=1 which is default, the center of gravity is computed using the master and slave node coordinates, the master node is moved to the computed center of gravity. For ICoG=3 the master node is not moved and it will be same where the user specifies. If you are setting ICoG=3 there may be some effect on the results based on the analysis performed. Unfortunately we don't have any studies on this topic.
