Quasi Static Non linear Analysis
Dear All,
I need to perform the Quasi Static Non linear Analysis for the below loading condition.
Time (sec) Load(KN)
0 0
25 1333.33
55 1333.33
Time (sec) Load(KN)
0 0
25 4000
55 4000
Load will be applied using actuator at two points, for that what contact to be created??
Please let me know the procedure for this analysis and provide your valuable guidelines

You are using Transient analysis type which ignore all non linearities.

While solving the problem following error occurs
A fatal error has occurred during computations:

RBE1, RBE3 and mpcs are not supported in large displacement analysis.

Hi Ram,
Which version of HyperWorks are you using?
The error you see was a bug and was fixed. Try in HyperWorks 14.0 and let us know if you face any issues.

Hi Ram,
Contact surface normals are not defined properly. Contact surface normals of master and slave should face each other. This is not respected in your model.
Please check and try again.

Not the element normals. I am checking if there are any other issues in the model. Will update soon if there are any.

Can you change the contact type to slide instead of using contact property?
Also, create an RBE2/RBE3 and apply load through this instead of applying on nodes.

I applied the force directly to the model using RBE3 element and removes the actuator profile ,Contact definition .
Then run the analysis,the following error occurs

Hi Ram,
I ran a normal modes analysis to check the integrity of the model. I think there are few modelling errors.
Couple of nodes from actuators have a strange behavior. Maybe try to remesh the actuator parts and re-run again.

When i am solving the problem with direct transient analysis without any contact definition by applying load directly to model,the problem is solved without any error.
But while solving with contact definition in NLgeom analysis error occurs. Please guide me to solve this issue.

Hi Ram,
You can run a Non linear direct transient analysis. You can use slide contact.
For more information about NL direct transient analysis, refer to NL direct transient analysis section in OptiStruct user's guide.
