Fixed Points on Solids without surfaces

Hi,

I want to do a simple topology optimization with a solid cube as a design space. In this cube I want to define a set of points which act as points for forces or SPCs. I have found no way but to trim the solid with several surfaces in order to make the fixed point marked for the meshing process.

Is there no better way for this? I would like to define a statement like: Mesh this solid, BUT set your mesh on these points too as an additional mesh constraint. WIth surfaces it is possible but not with solids?

if it is not possible for solids, you can delete the solid but keep its surfs

enter F11> add/remove points to add fixed points.

So I delete the solid but not its surfaces, mesh the surfaces (but the fix points do not lie within the outer surfaces) and what then? solid map general?

The proble really is that those points are in the middle of the solid an I would like to skip the necessity to devide the solid with a surf going through each node.

to trim a solid, enter geom>solid edit> trim with plane

Hi tinh,

thats the way I did it in the first place but I ended up with 64 solids on this little example, which is not very satisfying, as it should be possible without any division of the main solid (at least to my understanding)

So it is simple that just mesh the solid then F3 closest nodes to the given points

if you got quality issue, manually modify it (translate, smooth...)

Hi,

What i understood from above mail is you have solid with some points inside.While meshing node should come on these points location.

Such functionality is underdevelopement for Simlab preprocessor.
