The Material Identification tool is based on the Altair Compose environment and allows determining from measurements the parameters and coefficients required to create a material in Flux. The general workflow for most of the materials models in the Flux Material Identification tool, consists of a 3-step procedure as described below:

  • Step 1: Select specific type of B(H) magnetic property or an iron losses model, the Flux Material Identification tool will allow user to choose  file containing magnetic measurements representing the characteristics of the material. The file chosen should be in .xlsx or .csv format.
  • Step 2:  The identification method starts automatically as soon as the file is loaded correctly and determines which model parameter set best fits the chosen model. The sliders on the left side of the panel help user to alter the parameter set iteratively as per user's requirements.
  • Step 3: An additional feature of this panel is the ability to export the best fit parameters of the identified material. using pyFlux command. To accomplish this export, select the Save pyFlux button.

This tutorial discusses the identification of the physical or mathematical parameters required for the creation of a material with the following three types of B(H) properties in Flux with above mentioned procedure.
