I want to obtain transient time response on a cantilever beam 

for this purpose I use a impulse load and obtain damped free vibration time response

how to perform it

You can run transient response analysis with load type as force without providing any damping factors.

Sorry I misread your question. In order to have such an impulse you need to include damping.
