Hello!

I am new to Hyperworks and trying to analyze a simple beam as a simply supported cantilever structure. When I try to run the analysis with optistruct, an error "Syntax error in the path or filename" comes up. I check online and people say this is because I didn't set a filename in CONTROL CARD > ASSIGN > PUNCH. I tried to type the filename in but the box seems to be greyed out. Does anyone know how to add the file path in this case?  Thanks!!!

To answer directly your question (but read on!): Once you have created the card, it will be available in the entity editor (browser on left) where you may edit the field

However! It is unlikely that this is what you need to do to resolve your problem overall!, ASSIGN,PUNCH is to declare where you want a DMIG superelement to be written, and I don't think that is what you are looking for here.

Also, the interface you are using there is the 'old' HyperMesh, as you are new to using it, I would really recommend using the new interface instead (open 'HyperWorks' and select 'HyperMesh' there)

once you are in, if you go to 'File-->Help-->Tutorials' there are some guides and worked examples to help you get started, or you can register for an e-learning course (free) on Altair One HW introduction Course
