Altair Global Student Contest - MAY 2023 Winners Announced
Altair EmployeeAltair is excited to announce we have our first winners in the year long Global Student Contest. May was an exciting month with numerous good entries that put our judges to the test. In the end though only one (per region) can claim first prize. Each of the following winners will be receiving a $750 (USD Equivalent) prize and will be automatically entered in the grand showdown next year for the overall Global Grand Prize Winner who will take home $7500 (USD Equivalent.) After you are inspired (pun intended) by these entries, take some time and work up your own submission. July is just kicking off and we would love to see your work and perhaps give you some money too!
AMER 1st Prize
Team Unifei from the Universidade Federal de Itajubá in Brazil took first prize in the Americas region with their use of Altair Inspire to reduce the mass of a support bracket. They successfully reduced the mass by over 50% while still maintaining a 1.5X safety factor. Great Job team Unifei you really highlighted the power of Inspire!

APAC 1st Prize
Team Bishma from the Rajarambapu Institute of Technology in India, grabbed the first prize in the APAC region with their optimization of a Steering Knuckle using Altair Inspire. The team saw a mass reduction of 50% over the original design while maintaining required safety factors. Team Bishma even used the polynurb function to create a manufacturable geometry right there in Inspire. Way to go Team Bishma we loved your great high-tech video as well.

EMEA 1st Prize
Luca Bauer from the Technical University of Munich in Germany took a unique approach to optimizing the drag on a vehicle using Altair Virtual Wind Tunnel. Luca went through 15 different vehicle cross-sections before finalizing the design that resulted in an amazing 46% reduction in drag. Congratulations Luca we cant wait to start saving gas money with your cool designs!
