Vishwakarma Institute of Technology's Formula Student team Veloce Racing India participated in SAE India SUPRA 2022, an annual collegiate engineering design competition held at the Buddh International circuit. The team unveiled their 10th car "” VR10 which went on to win 6 trophies and achieve All India Rank 4 demonstrating constant improvement and consistency.

" CAE is very crucial in the team as every part that goes onto the car is analyzed for its structural integrity with the aim of finding an optimal design and the ultimate goal being to build a lightweight, reliable and fast vehicle keeping in mind the most important aspect while designing a car i.e driver safety. Receiving a sponsorship from Altair really enabled us to take our game to the next level, expanding our horizons to various other softwares like Inspire Motion, MotionView, HyperLife and SimSolid while also allowing us to further explore the unlimited potential of HyperMesh. It is due to the consistent support and encouragement of Altair and those associated with it that has enabled us to develop and grow as a team. Initially static and some dynamic analysis were carried out to determine the safety factor of a component but as the team grew and was introduced to newer methods with the help of sources and training material provided by Altair, we performed multiple types of analyses such as Fatigue and Thermal analysis, and performing multi-body simulations on car's individual assemblies which provided meaningful insights. Optimization has also been an important part of the design process and has proved efficient in terms of weight reduction whilst also assuring that the component fulfills the functional requirements. The valuable feedback gained helped in improving the overall design of the vehicle. Altair has provided a platform through which the team looks forward to increasing the scope of CAE and dive-deeper into the world of simulation driven design. " - Veloce Racing India, VIT, Pune.

At the Supra SAE 2022, the team finished fourth overall and won the most number of individual event trophies in the event. The Awards won were : 1) Engineering Design - 1st 2) CAE - 1st 3) AutoCross - 1st 4) Engineering Excellence Award 5) First Team to Clear Technical Inspection 6) Business Logic Case - 1st 7) Cost Presentation 3rd

Formula Student is a platform that provides an opportunity for university students to design and build a formula style race car. Supra by SAE India and Formula Bharat are annual Formula Student Engineering Design competitions held in India where undergraduate students from colleges all over the country compete with a formula style vehicle that consists of Static events like engineering design, CAE, cost and business along with Dynamic on- track events where the performance of the vehicle is tested. This consists of events like acceleration, autocross, skidpad and endurance. These competitions are similar to the Formula Student series held in different countries around the world.
