After over a year of hard work, determination, and a lot of sleepless nights, U of M Baja team were able to bring home the Mike Schmidt Memorial Iron Team Award. The award celebrates the team with the highest cumulative point score after all three North American Baja SAE events and is in memory of a founding member of RIT Baja, Mike Schmidt. "Altair's finite element tools are a fundamental part of the engineering design process for Michigan Baja Racing. Every part that goes on the vehicle is analyzed prior to manufacture using a combined suite of products such as Hyperworks, Optistruct, Inspire, and SimSolid. Michigan Baja Racing has always strived to minimize component mass while maximizing performance and meeting durability targets, and this would not be possible with the wide capabilities of the various Altair tools we have access to. Furthermore, Altair's continued support through training courses, campus representatives, and expert advice has enabled significant growth in the analysis skills of our team members. Put simply, Altair has enabled Michigan Baja Racing to design the fastest Baja SAE cars in the world. " - U of M Baja Team Baja SAE is an off-road racecar competition series organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). Student teams from over 100 universities compete in multiple dynamic events, such as an endurance race, maneuverability course, sled pull, hill climb, and acceleration event. Teams are also judged for their work behind the scenes in design, sales, and cost. The team was successful in multiple categories apart from securing 1st place Overall - 1st Endurance, 1st Acceleration, 2nd Maneuverability, 2nd Cost and 3rd in Design
