The UBC Steel Bridge Design Team competed at the Canadian National Steel Bridge Competition in Sherbrooke, Quebec, placing 2
nd overall. They are now moving on to the SSBC National Finals in Virginia. The competition involves designing, fabricating, and constructing a steel bridge to specific requirements. Teams are judged based on multiple criteria including aesthetics, a poster+oral presentation, construction speed, weight, stiffness, construction economy, and structural efficiency. S-FRAME was used for their global structural analysis, and member sizing. A new component was also added this year to create a video about their competition design. The UBC Steel Bridge Design Team won this competition, and featured their S-FRAME usage in the video.
