Access Data in Monarch

Welcome to the First Step in achieving mastery over data!

Before starting the lesson, let’s look at the interface and basic functionalities of Altair® Monarch® Data Prep Studio (DPS). It is, as the name suggests, a place for you to prepare your data.

In the overview video below, you will see the options DPS provides to help you prepare, clean, transform, combine, analyze, and export data. You will also learn basic menu functions and shortcuts that make the job easier.



Now that we know how to use the DPS interface, let’s dive into it deeper and begin the seven-step tutorial. The first video in this series explains how to import data stored in different formats. Monarch allows you to drag files onto the screen and displays different windows based on each file’s format. Depending on the data, DPS supports multiple options for handling the different file formats you will come across, including structured or unstructured text, CSV, PDF, apps, big data, Microsoft® SQL Server®, and many more.
