HyperLife 2023 highlights two key features, hotspot sets to pintpoint specific damage locations and range envelope to identify the large stress range across subcase list within an event.

Hotspot Sets

Output of hotspot sets based on damage thresholds is now supported. Users will be allowed to control the number of hotspots and the size of the hotspot cluster based on the threshold ratio and damage limit. Hotspot sets with HyperLife batch facilitate setting up sequential runs by refining the initial evaluation setup. Applying a different stress combination or requesting stress history output for a small group of critical elements in subsequent runs is one such example. HyperView also supports import of these hotspot sets which facilitates in additional postprocessing.

The option is activated from Evaluate via Advance Options > Output > Hotspots.

Event Configuration : Range Envelope in LoadMap

Range envelope option is added to the Load Map in addition to Superposition and Sequential for stress life event configurations. The new feature enables to extract maximum stress range from selected loadcases in the event. Absolute principal stress calculated from the derived tensor from all subcase pairs. i.e., |sub1 – sub2|, |sub2- sub3|, etc. is compared to calculate the extreme. This feature is useful when there is no external load-history input available and user intends to use the maximum stress range from the available stress levels in the loadcases.

The option is activated from LoadMap via Event Configuration > Range Envelope.
