Thinking about entering the Altair Student Contest and just now sure what to do? 

We have an archive of all the winners so far and you might want to take a look at their amazing work.

I think you will be surprised at the ingenuity they demonstrated using simple models.  Sure optimization can be complex but there is an elegance in the simple as well.  You don't have to "re-invent the wheel" nor "build a better mousetrap" as many of these winners show.
