Hello All,

We have just started the development activity for SimLab 2024.1 version. So, we do not have anything on the new enhancements this week. In the upcoming weeks, you will get the details about the new features added for SimLab 2024.1 version.

Please find the below some of highlighted features added in SimLab 2024 release.

Solution: Electro magnetics

Solver: Flux

• Magnetic AC 3D: Solutions > Physics > Electro magnetic
  • New Magnetic AC solution is supported.
  • The Magnetic AC 3D solution allows the study of devices in the harmonic state (sinusoidal steady state) for a given frequency.
  • This solution considers the currents induced in the conducting regions (eddy currents). It also considers the skin effects which can be significant in 3D modelling and the proximity effects in the conducting regions.
  • This solution is available for 3D domain for now.

 

• • Main use cases for Magnetic AC 3D solutions are
    • Induction heating
    • Induction motor

 

• Complex quantities: Magnetic AC3D solution > Results Panel
  • Supported complex quantities graphical display for Flux solver: Contour and Vectors display on Modal animation, with or without Motion.

Solution: Electronics thermal

Solver: Electroflo

• Response: Electronics Thermal Solution > Results right click
  • Support added to create temperature response for CAD face / face group / body.

Solution: Drop test

Solver: Radioss

• Drop test: Solutions > Applications
  • Support added to select CAD bodies as input for Radioss drop test solution.
  • Note: Currently, the mesh bodies should be added manually to the solution.

Results

• Vector plot: Result > Animation settings > Animate Contour
  • Extended support for animating the contour of the vector plot for both linear and modal animation for the below solutions.
    • OptiStruct
    • Abaqus (Supported only for Reader 1)
    • Flux

Electronics

• Refine BGA: Electronics > Tools > BGA
  • Added a new tool to refine the solder mesh on specific locations.
  • Mesh will be updated on the components connected to solder.

• 3D IC: Electronics > Tools > Chip
  • 3D-IC technology refers to a range of packaging technologies for multi-die integrated circuits, in which multiple semiconductor chips — called “chiplets” — are placed close to each other (2.5D-IC) or stacked on top of each other (3D-IC).
  • The chiplets are interconnected using a silicon interposer with through-silicon vias (TSVs), which penetrate through the silicon interposer and enable the connection between all layers.
  • This technology allows heterogeneous integration of chips in areas such as logic, memory, sensors, microelectromechanical systems (MEMs), and more in a compact form factor, leading to higher performance, lower power consumption, and reduced form factor.
  • This tool helps to create a stack of chiplets with given parameters to do floorplan analysis.

 

System

• Database Folder: File > Save / Save As
  • Enhanced the structure of storing the results and specification files related to database solution, while saving the database.
