In Inspire Motion, “Joints” constrain one or more bodies or Rigid Groups together to create a connection such as a Pin or Hinge or Cylindrical joint. “Supports”, from the Structures ribbon 
, can also be used to constrain a single body or Rigid Group to ground with user-specified degrees of freedom (DOF). Both joints and supports ultimately achieve the same goal, they constrain one or more of the (3) translational and/or (3) rotational DOF allowed by a rigid body part.
