What’s new in PollEx 2020

Let’s have a look at the key features of PollEx 2020!

PollEx PCB Modeler

In addition to PCB/Schematic/Gerber viewer and Cross Probing modules,

  • 3rd party data format exporting modules were added.
  • Several manufacturing related modules were added into PCB Modeler.
  • PDBX (XML based PCB design data expression file) extraction function was added in PCB Modeler.

PollEx PCB Solver

In addition to SI, PI and Thermal,

  • “Radiated Emission” added in PollEx SI can extract *.rei file which contains the current density in frequency domain for certain routing patterns on design
  • Power Integrity analysis engine, PollEx PI added. PI’s main functions are IR-Drop and PDN analysis.

PollEx PCB Verification

In addition to DFE+/Logic DFE

  • “Rule based analysis module, PCB DFE+ was added
  • Rule based schematic design checker Logic DFE was added.

PollEx PCB Manufacturing

In addition to PCB Manufacturing, many manufacturing modules have been added.

  • Mounting Emulator” predicts machine dependent component mounting status.
  • “Metal Mask Manager” checks whether design use standard metal-mask.
  • “Gerber to PCB” creates intelligent design from ODB++.
  • “Block JIG Generator” extracts data file for making block-JIG.
  • “Router Machine JIG Generator” extracts data file for making router-JIG.
  • “Solder Quantity Calculator” predicts the quantity of solder based on design.
  • “Solder Pallet Data Extractor” extracts data file for solder-pallet.

PollEx PCB UPE

In addition to UPE (Unified Part Editor), many manufacturing modules using UPE feature have been added.

  • “Mounting-Machine Data Export” extracts mounter-machine dependent work-data.

Adding Radiated Emission Analysis

  • PollEx Radiated Emission Analysis is running transient circuit simulation on the network model for user-specified simulation time in order to obtain time-domain or frequency-domain current waveforms at the input and output of each segment. The simulated results can be exported in XML file format (*.rei) which can be used for subsequent EM analysis systems like Feko.
  • Radiated Emission Analysis can be found under the Analysis menu in PollEx PCB.

Adding Power Integrity Analysis

  • PollEx Power Integrity or PI Analysis allows user to validate the design decisions throughout the design process including the selection board layer stack-up, placing decoupling capacitors on the board, and routing power/ground nets. PollEx PI helps to quickly and easily identify, assess, and resolve any PDN or IR-Drop issues during the design phase.
  • Power Integrity Analysis can be found under the Analysis menu in PollEx PCB.image

Adding DFE+ Verification

  • PollEx DFE+ is designed to meet the challenge of reducing design iterations and improving design to manufacturing process to overcome the market competition and reduced product life. DFE+ checking items validate the design decisions throughout the design process including the selection of parts, materials and board layer stack-up, placing components on the board, and routing signal and power/ground nets.
  • DFE+ verification can be found under the Option menu in PollEx PCB.

Adding Manufacturing related features

  • Added manufacturing related products are 14 different types which can be found under the Tools and the Manufacture Each product requires 30HWUs, except the Worksheet Planner, Golden Sample, and Make Board Paneling which require 10 HWUs.
  • Added the Solder Quantity Calculator which checks the validity of solder/metal masks on PCB design and calculate requiring the quantities of solder.
  • Added the Metal Mask Manager which checks the validity of metal masks after linking BOM and it can exchange metal mask on design with standard mask on database if required.
  • Added the Route-Machine JIG Generator which extracts a router-machinery JIG file from design.
  • Added the Block JIG Generator which extracts manufacturing data and can be used for fixing bare PCB in mounting process.
  • Added the Mounting Emulator which emulates virtual component mounting status.
  • Added the Mount Data Extractor which extracts data for mounter machine.
  • Added the Soldering Pallet which extract JIG data for wave soldering process.
  • Added the Underfill which extracts data for RESIN pasting of BGA type components.
  • Added the Gerber to PCB which converts non-intelligent ODB++ design into intelligent PCB design.
  • Added the Test-Pin Location Generator which extracts TP (Test Point) data for electrical test.
  • Added the Compare GDSII which exports GDSII data for design and checks the validity between design and extracted data.

Adding Export features to EDA formats

  • PollEx PCB supports not only importing the design data from EDA vendors, but also exporting data to EDA formats. PollEx PCB can export 8 different types of EDA vendors, such as Ansys ANF file, Ansys SIwave file, Sigrity SPD file, Keysight 3070, Keysight ADS file, Keysight ABL file, Zuken Hotstage and IPC-2581B format.
