Here’s a high-level summary of the changes in Panopticon 2021.1:
- Data pipelines: We have updated the query builder for OneTick users to make it easier to use, added new, more flexible methods of assigning key values for streaming data sources, and implemented the ability to make calls to REST services as alternatives to Python or R.
- Data extracts: We have upgraded the stream simulator so it consumes data from any Panopticon data extract. Regardless of where your data is currently stored, you can simulate a streaming flow of that data directly from within Panopticon and play back a stored event stream data. A common use case is to play back transaction data stored in a Kx kdb+ (or similar high-performance time series database) for backtesting trading algorithms.
- Stream processing: The new application bundles function enables users to move stream processing applications between servers quickly. We have also expanded the collection of example applications to help new users learn how to build their own stream processing applications in less time.
- Visualization server: A new server API token library enables REST API authentication in scripts and data connectors without risk of exposing user credentials, thereby strengthening system security. A new data table regression testing feature flags data table configuration errors automatically. New outgoing webhooks function allows users to channel messages from Panopticon alerts directly into collaboration platforms including Slack, Microsoft® Teams®, Symphony, and other systems. We’ve also made it easier to search for workbooks and dashboards.
- Cluster deployment: We’ve added a series of new functions that improve system performance and make clusters more robust.
- User interface: You will find a cleaner, more intuitive user interface populated with new capabilities for controlling colors, filters, legends, and action controls in your dashboards.
- Visualizations: We’ve added a new 3D scatterplot, made it easier to view historic positions and real-time movement paths for objects on land or in the air, and provided new combination graphs that accommodate more data dimensions and provide analysts with more perspectives on their data in small amounts of screen space.
We’ve also published a series of seven tutorial videos about new capabilities in this release in our Knowledge base.
