Lockheed Martin computing protection secured with PBS Professional
Lockheed Martin is a global security and aerospace company that researches, designs, and manufactures advanced technology systems, products, and services for government agencies like the U.S.’s Department of Defense.
The Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) cross-domain system configurations for multi-level security (MLS) enable role-based access control so users and data at different security levels can share the same resources. However, without a workload manager that could integrate with RHEL, the HPC team had to install separate workload managers for each security clearance and delegate resources with a whiteboard. This was a high overhead for the system administrators and lead to low utilisation. Because security and efficiency are both paramount to managing government computing systems, the administrators at Lockheed Martin looked to Altair for a solution.
Lockheed Martin chose PBS Professional for its rich set of queuing, managing, and reporting capabilities and our willingness to innovate with the customer. With its current installation and integration, the HPC team can easily and securely manage HPC resources in real time across more than 20 different security levels and compartments, ensuring full system utilization.
“We chose Altair thanks to PBS Professional’s rich set of queuing, managing, and reporting capabilities and the company’s willingness to innovate with us.” - Joseph Swartz, Program Chief Scientist, Lockheed Martin
