Stress Concentrations at Constraint

I've simulated a cantilever I-beam with a point load at the end:

I calculated the maximum stress value to be 37.6 MPa (at the fixed end, at the top/bottom of the beam).

The results are as I would expect, except that at the constraint (fixed end) I get stress concentrations:

As I refine the mesh, the stress concentration gets pushed into the corner, thus allowing me to be more confident that it is indeed an artifact. However, the region near the concentration also has high values and the transition between the stress concentration in the corner, and the rest of the mesh is relatively smooth, and therefore appearing to be less like a singularity:image

The values at the elements along the top edge of the fixed end are close to my calculated values, but they fluctuate:

How do I avoid/minimize the effect of singularities at constrained edges, and how do I deal with smooth transitions around locations that are suspected to be singularities?
