While checking a shear wall against in-plane shear. The concrete capacity vc in the detailed report showed to be zero and only the horizontal reinforcement is used for resistance. Please explain why is this happening? why is beta assigned as zero?

Hello, thank you for your question.  Without having access to your model, we will have to make some assumptions about your particular case.  Should you wish to send us your model, please feel free to forward it to HWSupport@altair.com for a more detailed review.  With that said, I did want to share some observations:

• We feel that there are circumstances where the value for Beta (0) calculated by S-CONCRETE is correct. Note that in your screenshot, the type of wall is a squat wall as per the length/width ratio, and Rd value specified.
• As per Cl. 21.5.10, the value of Beta shall be taken as zero unless that the inelastic rotational demand on the wall is less than 0.015:
• You may want to investigate the inelastic rotational demand (Equation 21.11) of your wall to see if it falls within this classification
