Defining convection on optistruct
Hey guys,
I'm trying currently to run a heat transfer analysis where I have convection with ambiant temperature.
I checked the two tutorial (OS-T 1085 & OS-T 1090) and I feel like I'm doing everything as explained in it but it's not working.
When creating the convection, in the element selection part, I can select my solid element, and when I click on the 4 nodes to extract all the faces of the element, and then on the "add" button (with a break angle of 89°) nothing seems to happens.
On all the tutorial after this operation one can see the smaller square or triangle on the face of the element showing the surface/group just created but it just does not work for me.
In the mean time, in my freshly created group, I see that there are some element in the "slave entity IDs". The number seems pretty good, as if it worked properly, but impossible to have them displayed, and if I want to isolate them or show them, everything dissapear ...
I also have the same problem when I want to create a conduction in order to create a incoming heat flux through a surface...
Anyone could help me ?
Thanks for your support.

Hi Adriano,
Thanks a lot for your help and your really clear video.
Unfortunatrely, this is exactly how I tried to implement the convection, in addition to two other method.
The one where you have to select the 4 nodes as seen in the tutorial, and a last one with the latest interfacewhere you have this panel. However, when I proceeded any of the 3 way yesterday for hours, I still not had the small greenish plates on the faces to indicate that it worked a syou have on your video.
Today, after a reboot of my machine, it seems that i worked. I mean that I see the brown faces on my yellow solid element.
However, when I do the card edit, I don't know why, but I cannot select my element with the box selection and even if I managed to select them, when I click on edit to select the node for the ambiant temperature, it states that "no valid entites were selected", as shown on the bottom left …I really don't get what's going on.
By the way, how can you switch between the two interface ?
I don't have the small icon for the card edit, I must always search for the "card edit" on the top right.
Thanks for your help again.
Best regards,
PierreI see.
Your model uses a TETRA mesh, so that in the end you will get tria convection faces.
So in order to card edit, you need to select 'slave3' instead of 'slave4'.
Anyway, in the HWx interface, you just need to select elements (only the convection faces) and RMB, Edit, then specifying the TA reference node for the ambient temperature.
