HyperStudy Error "Study was closed in an abnormal manner or is used by ( hst.exe )"
Hi everybody,
I've got some issue when I use HyperStudy 2020.1 with solver Flux 2018. The same problem occurs with another versions of the softwares too.
Sometimes, during optimization process, HyperStudy crashes and closes. When I open again the software, I can read following message error: "Study was closed in an abnormal manner or is used by ( hst.exe )". It seems a "random" problem, because it doesn't occur always; sometimes after some hours, but not always.
Please support me about this issue.
Best regards,
Riccardo

Hi Ricardo,
Software crash should definitely not happen.
To start investigating, can you look in the folder of the run when the crash occured and share the messages(if any) in the task_exe_stderr file ?
I assume you have not you been able to identify a specific scenario in which the crash occurs ?
Did you try with the latest 2021 releases HyperStudy and Flux?
Finally it would be helpful if you can share the study archive so that we try to reproduce it.
Regards,
Diana

The messages (multi-execution optimization with 2 jobs) are the followings:
[62313|1612891993820|1|WARNING ][UseCase|UseCaseManager.changeUseCase] : No use case transaction found
[62313|1612892054517|1|WARNING ][UseCase|UseCaseManager.changeUseCase] : No use case transaction found
At the moment I cannot try the latest version of the softwares, but the same issue occurs with all the old versions of the softwares too.
I'm sorry, but I cannot share the study.
Thanks.
Best regards,
Riccardo

Hi Ricardo.
Sorry for the delay. Thanks for sharing these messages. I'll check internally and come back to you today.
In the meantime it would be really helpful if you can upgrade the tools and try with the latest release 2021. Maybe you have already got the chance to do it?
Regards,
Diana

Hi Ricardo,
Could you tell me if you have linked variables which are disabled in your optimization study? I'm asking because we have noticed recently such issue recently and I wanted to check if you have such variables?

Hi Diana,
I have linked variables which are disabled in my last optimization study, but tha same issue occurs when all the linked variables are active.
Thanks.

Hi Ricardo,
Thanks for the feedback. It does not look to be the same issue I was refering since you say it occurs also in the case of all variables enabled.
For further investigation on your issue, it would be needed to get the archive of the study. To ensure the confidentiality I propose you to open a support request and share there the files rather than on the forum. Like this we would be able to try to reproduce the issue and check with recent releases.Does that make sense for you ?
Regards,
Diana
