Hello,

I trying to do a optimization of a wheel and i have a problem with the components, because i learnt that you need at least two propertys in a topology otimization, to show the solver where he can optimize, but i don´t know how to create two property in case the wheel when i imported from a cad is just one component, and when i mesh with volume tetramesh just one component is created for all the surface.

I created i new component in inspire and particionate him and exported to hypermesh. That one recognised him with many component like the screenshot.

At the first moment i thought that i solved my problem because it was possible create a diferent property to the area where i wanted to optimize, but when i did  the simulation with the components, the result was not what i expected.

I am thinking the problem can be that the components aren´t fixed to each other. But i don´t know how to fix them. And i would  like to know if there other way to  create two components of one component(like the inspire do with the particionate).

    Hi,

You can organize geometry/solids/surfaces using Organize panel (Shift F11) is the shortcut and during meshing make sure you point elements to respective components

You can have nodal connectivity or use FREEZE or TIE contacts to fix components with each other.

    hi

I created a contact between the components and i got the results i expected.

    Thank´s.
